Natural Painting Workshop with Sarita Doe

🎨🍂 Learn how to paint a beautiful garden portrait at this Natural Painting Workshop with Sarita Doe! We’re so excited to host this creative opportunity and hope you can join!!

🖌️ Please read a little about Sarita and what to expect from her workshop in her own words:

“I’m a steward and painter of ecosystems, Earth Medicine, and Indigenous-led movements. I’ve been painting portraits of place for 25 years and graduated with an MFA in painting from UCLA in 2012. Since 2020, I began transitioning from oil paints to natural pigments to make my painting practice more compatible with the habitats I find myself in. Last year I exhibited this new body of work in a solo exhibition at Climate Control, San Francisco.

I'm thrilled to share this natural painting practice with Fig Leaf Gardens and community. For three hours, we will sit in offering to the muses we find at the garden: pollinators, flowers, plants, and spirits of the land. I'll take participants from beginning inspiration to sketch to a final small painting to take home. New and seasoned painters are welcome to attend. All materials are included in the class and students will walk away feeling confident in natural pigment painting techniques.

You’ll also be using eco-friendly, non-toxic paint, as acrylic paint sheds microplastics into our water, and conventional oil paints and thinners can be harmful to our bodies. Better paint, better earth!
