ABOUT DANICA:
Danica is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles whose work is rooted in a reverent relationship with the natural world. She holds a B.S. in Integrative Health Sciences from the National University of Natural Medicine, and it was during her undergraduate studies that a course, Plants of the Pacific Northwest, sparked a lasting passion for the native flora of the region.
Eager to deepen her botanical knowledge, she went on to complete a year-long Herbalist program at Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine in Portland, OR. Though the program centered on the medicinal properties of plants, working with them hands-on revealed the rich, luminous colors drawn out through medicine-making, and that discovery opened a door to the world of natural dye.
Danica is passionate about every stage of the process, from foraging in the field to the finished, wearable piece. She is particularly drawn to the slow, meditative rhythm of natural dye work: a practice that asks for patience, attunement to the plant, and a willingness to embrace whatever outcome the process reveals.
