This workshop is a collaboration with Fig Leaf Gardens and Symbiioitica, a myco-ecological education team based in Sonoma County. We’ll be covering a range of topics, sitting at the intersections of mycology, horticulture, culinary arts, and herbalism. We’ll cover basics of fungal biology and ecology and discuss the mushrooms regularly observed in urban garden habitats and their role in the garden. We’ll demonstrate various ways to add a “fungal dimension” to your garden or food forest, aka cultivating mushrooms through buckets, patch style and logs with as much demonstration or hands-on activity as possible. Additionally, we will delve into the nutrition and medicine of fungi and have tastings of fungal foods and mushroom/herbal syrups and tinctures.

Please bring water and lunch/snacks (bonus points for bringing snacks to share!), clothes that can get slightly messy and any necessary weather-related gear.
